This will be a quick update. It was another great night and I was able to get outside with the scope. I had a grand plan to see the about 40 Messier objects that were above the horizon and
that I still hadn't logged yet. Unfortunately, I was only able to bag 3. The rest were either behind my neighbors houses or the backyard tree. Oh well.
I saw M64 the Black-eye Galaxy, the double star M40, and the globular star cluster M92. M64 was just a fuzzy spot. The light pollution of my bark yard washed it out almost
totally. I'll have to check it out again from a dark site. M40 was a double star, not too exciting. M92 was the best of the night. It is a beautiful globular. A fuzzy core with a scattering of resolved stars across it. Very nice at a magnification of 202x.
I also had some time to look at Mars. I saw more detail than the last time. This time I was able to let my scope cool properly before viewing.
That's it until next time, which will probably be July 13th. The Astronomical Society of the Pacific is in town. MAS is hosting a star party for the ASP at Baylor park. I'll be there with the LX200. If you'll be in the area, stop by and say "Hi"!
