Christmas Day this year saw the sky give us here in Minnesota an additional present. The Sun was partially eclipsed by the Moon around 11:00am local
time. I managed to lose
my Baader solar filter material that I had planned to use to make a solar filter for my telescope so I was stuck with using the free glasses given out in Astronomy magazine.
I used the glasses to view the eclipse naked eye. I also was able to use the glasses as a filter in front of my 35mm and video cameras. I took some
shots with the camera and filmed some video with the video camera. I am pleased with the results, especially the video camera footage. Below is the best picture from the 35mm camera shots.
