August 26, 1999

Well, today a very important step was made towards the goal of CCD imaging. The company I work for, until tomorrow anyway, let me purchase the laptop I was using at work. It's a very modest machine with just a 2GB hard drive, 64MB memory, and a 166 Mhz processor. But it's portable and that is what's important. I've loaded Deepsky 99 and it's ready for observing.

The next night I can find time, I'm going to head out to Baylor Regional Park and try doing some moon and planet shots through the eyepiece with my quickcam hooked up to the laptop. It's going to be very interesting to see how long the battery will last. I may need to purchase a second battery.

   Now all I need is a 10" LX-200 and a nice SBIG ST-6 or ST-7!
